Gracefool Collective presents

This is Not a Wedding

Fri 20 Sep, 8:00pm at Red Brick Auditorium

Tickets: £12 (£10 concessions) , approx running time: 1hr 15mins no interval

Expect to laugh, cry and sing along to the classics whilst four bridal-clad women attempt to entertain, delight and maintain their dignity in a desperate last ditch effort to work out what the hell it all means.

This Is Not a Wedding invites the audience to partake in the re-imagining of recognisable ceremonies to witness a generation’s experiences of tradition conformity & expectation. Using their unique concoction of wildly entertaining dance theatre, Gracefool invite YOU to be guests at the non-wedding event of the year as they attempt to come to terms with coming of age in a high pressure, low tolerance, zero hour contract society.

It’s not a wedding, but it is a celebration, and everyone is invited.

Feminist, forthright and fiercely funny, Gracefool is made up of four female dance artists, all graduates of Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Previous commissions include Furnace (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Northern Connections (NSCD, 2015 and 2017) and Reveal Festival (Octagon Theatre). In 2017 This really is too much was awarded the Underbelly Untapped, a support programme taking ‘exceptional work’ to the Edinburgh Fringe. Most recently, they have been supported through Choreodrome and Yorkshire Dance’s Dance Partner Project.
