Jackie Hagan was annoyed at telly programmes like Benefits Street and Undateables trying to convince us that working class people and disabled people are one dimensional idiots. So she had a cup of tea and a chat with 80 people living on disability benefits and in this show plays audio excerpts of those chats interwoven with poetry, comedy, puppetry and storytelling, drawing on her own visceral experience of growing up in Skelmersdale on a council estate, stays in psychiatric hospitals, the utter stupidity of PIP forms and the joys of signing on in 2019. Sensitive and witty, she also downs a pint out of her false leg if you’re good.

“Very funny” – The Guardian

“She succinctly, and quirkily, conjures up concrete images of people, places and situations:…Her voice is honest, uncompromising, tough and tender – and funny – and rails against the vilification of the working class and the disabled” – Sabotage Reviews

“Fiercely unashamed, fiercely defiant and fiercely loving all at once.” – London Theatre 1

“Politically Urgent” – The Stage
