The Queen of Katwe

Sat 27 Jan, 7:15pm at Red Brick Auditorium

Tickets: £5 + Donations welcome

Age: PG

This true story film depicts the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan girl living in a slum in Katwe. She learns to play chess and becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her victories at the World Chess Olympiads.

Katwe is a town 50 miles north of the orphanage supported by Huddersfield North Scouts. Their target is to raise funds to build much needed dormitories for the children. A team of people are preparing to spend 3 weeks at the orphanage to carry out the building project. All proceeds from the film night will be used to buy building materials and tools. This event is a fundraiser for the Kerry West Orphanage in Uganda.
