A film screening for schools as part of Square Chapel’s Open Door schools programme.

A hard-working shoemaker struggles to support his family.  But when he sees a poor lady in need of help, he gives her his final pair of shoes.  The next morning he awakes to find that his last piece of leather has been transformed into the most magnificent pair of magical shoes.  But who has mysteriously made them?

Northern Ballet’s Elves and the Shoemaker stomps on to the big screen as part of its fantastic season of interactive ballets created especially for children, narrated by TV’s Anita Rani.  With playful characters and spellbinding music, this accessible ballet is the perfect way to introduce children to the magic of dance, music and storytelling.

This film has been programmed for schools as part of Square Chapel’s Open Door schools outreach programme, aiming to make the arts more accessible to children in Calderdale.  Open Door is supported with a grant from the Andrew LLoyd Webber Foundation.
