Director: Richard Billingham
Cast: Richard Ashton, Michelle Bonnard, Sam Dodd
The debut film from photographer Richard Billingham examines his chaotic family life when growing up in the 1980’s.
Outside of Birmingham, Ray and Liz raise their two sons living on the margins of society, performing extreme rituals and breaking social taboos as they deal with issues beyond their control.
Shot on 16mm film by cinematographer Daniel Landin (Under the Skin), Billingham’s debut is both sad, shocking and funny at the same time. A superb portrait of desperation and poverty and small moments of joy.
