This Christmas we will be screening a selection of artist and author, Raymond Briggs’ best-known work. From everyone’s favourite festive treat The Snowman, cult film When The Wind Blows and the biographical Ethel & Ernest. This is a chance to dig a little deeper into one of the nations most loved creative talents.

Based on the book by Raymond Briggs, this beautiful hand-drawn animation tells the true love story of Ramond’s own parents from first meeting in 1928 until their deaths in 1971. Featuring the voices of Brenda Blethyn and Jim Broadbent we follow Ethel and Ernest through events such as World War II and the swinging 60’s. This is a heartfelt, affectionate and bittersweet film and is a wonderful tribute to their memory.
