Kate Radford presents

Drought – A Preview

Thu 26 Apr, 8:00pm at Copper Auditorium

Tickets: £8 , approx running time: 50mins

Age: 16+

In ancient times, in ancient Greece, lived Caenis: A woman remarkable for her charm and knowledge. She was sought after in all the land. One day, whilst walking along the beach, she was taken by the sea god Poseidon. Who, when he had finished with her, granted her one wish…

“Make me not a woman. Then you will have given me everything…..”

Fusing spoken word, digital landscapes and experimental score, we meet Caenis and witness her story, alone, in the desert. Suffering in the gaps of history where female characters are laid to rest without redemption, she is given voice. Drought is merging music, theatre and storytelling, and challenges the narratives themselves. For how long are female characters to be left without their space, to breathe, to grieve, to share.
