Director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker) return with Detroit. Set at the Algiers Motel this is the brutal story of the events that happened in 1967, sparking some of the worst race riots in American history. Black security guard Melvin Dimukes (John Boyega) tried to mediate between his white superiors and a furious African-American community after three black men were left dead and others beaten. This is a very timely and intense film depicting the potentially lethal divisions in American society.
