Unveiling and launch of ‘Peg’ (part of Spring 2020 season launch)

We are delighted to be launching our fundraising campaign with an exclusive Antony Gormley piece of art. Peg has uniquely been cast and adapted into a donations box by Hargreaves Foundry. The Halifax Foundry has created many famous works for Gormley including life size versions of Angel of the North and pieces that can be see in Gormley’s 2019 exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Join us for this special unveiling.

Antony Gormley documentary: How Art Began + Q&A with producer and director Morag Tinto

Why do humans make art? When did we begin to make our mark on the world? And where? In this documentary, Antony Gormley sets out on a journey to see and discover the very beginnings of art. We are delighted freelance documentary film-maker and Director Morag Tinto will be joining us for a post screening Q&A. Morag has also directed other Gormley documentaries including the BBC’s Being Human.

Gormley for families

Art Workshop (1hr) | Saturday 7 December, 1pm | £7.50

During this experimental session families will have the opportunity to explore a selection of different Antony Gormley inspired activities including drawing, collage, stencil and 3D work. They will also have the chance to create their very own personalised handmade bookmark. This workshop will be led by local artist Sarah O’Boyle. All materials will be provided.

Silhouettes of Gormley

Adult Art Workshop (1hr 30mins) | Saturday 7 December, 3pm | £12.50

Gormley has produced many beautiful atmospheric drawings and paintings. This workshop looks at the tonal reduction drawing technique and the gestural technique that can be seen in some of Antony’s work. This workshop will be led by local artist Sarah O’Boyle. All materials will be provided.
