This ever-popular Christmas concert by Halifax Concert Band is a firm favourite in the calendar.
Returning for its 15th annual Christmas concert at the Square Chapel and celebrating their 40th anniversary year under the baton of conductor Peter Lynch, the band presents a tantalising programme of Christmas music including seasonal favourites such as A Christmas Festival and Sleigh Ride. Some exciting new additions will also be presented including a selection from A Nightmare at Christmas and a finale of popular carols and Christmas songs with audience participation, alongside pieces from their recent repertoire. Additional seasonal fun is guaranteed in this highly entertaining concert.
The full-sized community band comprises local musicians, with its mixture of of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments, and has established a great reputation for its music making not only in concert, but broadcast on radio and on its own CDs. Several of its performances can be viewed on YouTube and are available on iTunes. It is the only adult concert band in Calderdale and has a membership of 40 musicians. The band is self-supporting and all players give their time and services for free.
The band is excited to return to the Square Chapel on 4th July 2020 for the grand finale of their 40th anniversary celebrations, culminating in a celebratory concert where the band will perform under Musical Director Peter Lynch, joined by the band’s two previous Musical Directors Godfrey Turner and Christopher Binns. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy three styles of musicianship in one concert and is not to be missed!
Come and join us for both concerts – but remember, Christmas starts here!
