Support Us

In 1988 six art lovers bought a dilapidated Square Chapel for £25, saving it from demolition. Their vision was to turn the building into Halifax’s home for performing arts, music and ideas.

Along with our eclectic artistic programme and stunning multipurpose building, what makes Square Chapel special is the ambition and spirit that has taken us from being a derelict building in 1988 to the vibrant community and creative venue we are today.

This would not have been possible without the people at the heart of everything we do – our audiences, supporters, patrons and funders.

Ways to Support

You, our audiences are key to ensuring we bring the most exciting and engaging performance and film to Square Chapel.

Our membership is  designed to enable you to support our artistic programme and bring you that bit closer to the action through ticket discounts and a range of other advantages.

In 1988 six art lovers bought a dilapidated Square Chapel for £25, saving it from demolition. Their vision was to turn the building into a centre for performing arts, music and ideas, open and accessible to everyone.

A commitment to making art accessible to everyone continues to underpin our work. Alongside our Pay as You Can scheme, which ensures everyone can attend our performances, we run an extensive range of outreach events for children, older people and communities that find it hard to engage in the arts.

This is only possible through the generous support of people like you – people who understand how the arts can change lives.

A small one-off donation makes a huge difference. A regular gift does even more.

Make a more substantial gift and join our friends circle.

Friends become involved Square Chapel in a number of ways. Some support through their financial gift. Others become active in our development, utilising their experience to support our Board and staff team.

On becoming a friend through financial support, you will receive a range of exclusive benefits, including your name on a seat and acknowledgment in our public area. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to become part of a dynamic group shaping the future of Square Chapel.
