With the help of everyone’s favourite pig, Square Chapel Arts Centre are aiming for happy and healthy Easter Half Term with the official Move with Peppa workshops

 

There’s a famous pig, a flying elephant, a barnyard chicken, baby ballet and some Lego, to keep the little ones entertained this Easter Half Term 13 – 28 April

 

Square Chapel Arts Centre, Halifax is celebrating 15 years of Peppa Pig by getting families moving this Easter Half Term! Move with Peppa is the official Peppa Pig movement, dance and physical activity programme that helps children be happy and healthy. The sessions, taking place at the arts centre between Sunday 21 April – Wednesday 24 April, are interactive workshops created using stories from the award-winning Peppa Pig episodes. They are designed with littles one aged 18 months to 5 years, in mind (babies in arms go free!)

 

Families can look forward to 10 brand new episodes including a 2-part festival special, as well as exclusive new interactive entertainment featuring little ones singing and playing along with their favourite onscreen characters! Youngsters can join Peppa and George in their brand-new adventures as they dance in the mud, celebrate Grandpa Pig’s birthday at a restaurant for the first time, and take a trip to the cinema to see Super Potato’s big movie feature!

 

The newest release from Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience offers a whole hour of snorts and giggles, with songs to singalong to and games to join in with, it’s perfect for pre-schoolers and all the family to have fun with Peppa and all her friends! The Move with Peppa workshops will take place before each screening giving families the chance to dance, sing and clap their hands and into the groove before the film. 

 

 

Baby Ballet

To get the little ones moving some more, join babyballet on Monday 15 April for a taster session with this free 40 minute workshop suitable for children aged 18months to 4 years. There will also be a chance to meet ‘Twinkle’ the baby ballet bear, after the ballet session.

 

Babyballet makes learning to dance an unforgettable and magical experience for parents and their little stars. The successful babyballet programme, founded 12 years ago in the UK, is now also available in Australia and New Zealand. From six months to six years, babyballet classes give children the chance to dance, gain confidence and shine, in a fun, caring and supportive environment.

 

 

Film:

Dumbo

 

If all that moving around has tired families out, then they can see the loveable Dumbo on Sunday 28 April at 2pm. This 2019 film feature from director Tim Burton and starring Eva Green, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton will entertain all the family this Easter.

 

This live action remake of a family favourite, follows a young circus elephant, born with comically large ears and given the cruel nickname Dumbo. One day at a show, he is taunted by a group of kids, inciting his mother into a rage that gets her locked up. After Dumbo’s ears cause an accident that injures many of the other elephants, he is made to dress like a clown and perform dangerous stunts. Everything changes when Dumbo discovers that his enormous ears allow him to fly, and he astounds everyone at the circus with his new talent.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lego Movie 2

Families can also enjoy the latest Lego adventure on the big screen with Lego Movie 2 (Saturday 13, Sunday 14 and Wednesday 17 April). This 2019 released computer-animated comedy film includes voices from Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum and Will Ferrell to name a few.

 

Families will love the free Lego workshop on offer at Square Chapel this Easter from Bricks4Kids Calderdale. This workshop takes place in the Cornerstone room on the ground floor at Square Chapel, from 2pm on Monday 15 May followed by the film.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Theatre:

Chicken Licken

On Sunday 21 April head to Square Chapel Arts Centre, for some magical puppetry theatre. Classic Ladybird Barnyard Chicken Licken, Little Red Hen and The Fox and the Hen will be combined in a lively and witty adaptation told using puppetry, music and cooking. The perfect Easter treat for kids and big kids alike.
