Join us for our celebration events marking the finale of PoetryQuest – a three month project which partners up arts venues and local primary schools with professional poets.
Poets Winston Plowes and Keith Hutson have been delivering workshops with children at Beech Hill School, Moorside primary school and St Mary’s Catholic primary school, exploring many different kinds of poetry, including kennings, haiku, sonnets, found poetry and much more. The children have written some fabulous poems and the celebration events are an opportunity to hear them read aloud and performed by their authors.
PoetryQuest is part of Square Chapel’s Open Door schools outreach programme, which is also part of Creative Communities (Stronger Together) – an outreach programme led by Square Chapel in partnership with verd de gris Ltd and Orange Box young people’s centre. Creative Communities is supported with funding from The National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.
Poetry Quest is mainly funded this year by Children and the Arts, with match funding from Creative Communities.
Please note: seating is unallocated and schools groups will be seated together. Tickets are free but must be booked through Square Chapel’s box office.
