Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.
Our volunteers support us by assisting with our Front of House team, welcome patrons to the building, sell programmes and support the staff team to ensure health and safety standards are met within our theatre space.
Volunteering is as great an opportunity for you as it is for us. You will enjoy the opportunity to see theatre and music, meet new people, and gain an insight into the inner life of a thriving arts organisation. Full training and by sharing your existing skills and discovering new ones, you’ll also boost your CV.
A significant number of volunteers have gone on to secure jobs in the arts and here at Square Chapel as a result of the skills and experience gained with us. Whatever your motivations for volunteering, we can assure you that you will be warmly welcomed by everyone here.
“I was warmly welcomed from the first day that I walked into the building and it wasn’t long before I was being allocated volunteer shifts. After only a relatively short period of time I felt part of the team. I am looking forward to making a meaningful contribution to the running of the arts centre over the weeks, months and hopefully years to come and would thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone who has a wider interest in the artistic scene.” Andy, volunteer.
Square Chapel is currently in the middle of major renovations to improve the facilities and create some fabulous new spaces, all to be ready by the Spring of 2017. Find out more about our future here.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist in making the external grounds of Square Chapel as beautiful as the inside. If you enjoy gardening and can spare a couple of hours each week to develop and look after the landscaping and garden areas, we would love to hear from you, starting from spring this year.
Volunteers will assist in a wide range of gardening activities – from planting, weeding, pruning to helping to maintain the public areas on a regular basis. No qualifications are required, however this role will suit you if you are physically able, practical and have a love of gardening. Square Chapel will provide gardening gloves and protective goggles. Health and Safety training and a full induction will be provided, along with refreshments and travel expenses. Square Chapel Volunteer Landscape role Description
