Why hold your wedding reception or post wedding drinks reception in a bland function suite when you could hold it in a Grade II* listed building dating back to 1772?


We have a wonderful beamed Auditorium with a sprung dance floor and the technical expertise and equipment to ensure that any function will go with a swing. From live bands to discos we have the lights, we have the sound and we also have a very large mirror ball! Add to that a cosy bar and our friendly staff and we can guarantee you a day to remember.

When you hire Square Chapel for a wedding we are offering you a blank canvas allowing you the freedom to organise the function that suits you as individuals. We are giving you the building for the day and the rest (within reason!) is up to you.
Packages include:
Auditorium and Bar hire from 1pm – 1am
Staffed bar until 11.30pm
A Duty Manager for the evening as well as bar staff
The services of a Technician to help set up your event and to run the sound and lighting if needed.

Catering and Bars

We do not have our own catering facilities at Square Chapel and therefore the use of outside caterers is essential. We highly recommend that the caterers you are proposing to use visit our building before you make a decision on whether Square Chapel is the venue for you. Hirers are permitted to bring in their own food but please note we have very limited space for cold storage. Hirers may also bring their own wine and champagne but we do make a charge for corkage. Alternatively our Operations Manager will be delighted to order in drinks on your behalf but we do charge an administration fee for this service. We have contacts with local suppliers and small breweries.

During events there will be a Duty Manager present at all times.
Hirers are permitted to decorate the rooms with banners, streamers and balloons. An easel and stand is available to display wedding reception table plans.

Hirers are able to bring in their own wedding cakes.

The venue has 11 rectangular tables, (4ft and 6ft in length) and 3 round banqueting tables. Extra tables can be made available at the hirer’s expense.

DJ’s / Entertainment
Hirers can bring in their own disco / live band / entertainment.

For weddings, a room hire deposit is due at the time of booking. The balance is payable one month before the date of the wedding reception. If full payment is not received by the agreed date, then the function will be cancelled and the deposit retained by the venue.

Useful Information
Square Chapel staff are responsible for cleaning the room and putting away the tables and chairs at the end of a function. If available the hirer will be given three permits to park cars in the staff car park at the back of the building.
