Square Chapel Community Outreach programme
Square Chapel’s community outreach programme has been running
for over eight years, delivering very high quality community arts projects
with people from all over Calderdale. From October 2010 our outreach provision includes people from the following groups:
- Young people
- Older people
- Children and families
Through targeted projects and an annual family festival, we offer opportunities in drama, music, visual arts and much more. You can benefit from community arts projects in the following ways:
- Be creative
- Make yourself heard
- Make new friends
- Learn new skills
- Gain new experiences
- Take part in performances and exhibitions
Square Chapel’s outreach programme began in 2001 as Inclusive Arts and was funded with a five-year SRB6 grant. In 2006 the programme developed and expanded into Artreach, supported with funding from the National Lottery (via the Arts Council) and HBOS. In 2009, the outreach programme became more streamlined and has been funded with a grant from Arts Council Sustain.
Square Chapel’s annual summer family festival, the Halifax Festival, is run in partnership with Eureka! The National Children’s Museum, Halifax Minster and is supported by Calderdale Council. The Halifax Festival started life as The July Project – a children and young people’s festival that ran successfully for three years and was sponsored by HBOS.
