Cautionary Tales! Opera North
Tue 27 March - Wed 28 March
“If you have any unruly offspring …who need admonishing,
this comes highly recommended.” The Guardian****
Beware! Never before have bad behaviour and mischief been so much fun!
Don’t miss this stunning new piece of music theatre for naughty children (and good ones too).
Opera North’s witty adaptation of Belloc’s deliciously macabre
Cautionary Tales for Children was a big hit with audiences and critics when it was first premiered in March 2011.
Meet bad boys and girls including lying Matilda, runaway Jim and danger-loving George and learn from their disobedience and dreadful ends.
Infectious melodies and toe-tapping rhythms bring to life five of
Belloc’s best loved tales unfolding a mesmerising world of villainous adults, misbehaving children and incredible morals.
Full of colourful tunes and stories, this is a lively short piece of musical theatre for all the family and an ideal introduction to opera.
Matilda told such dreadful lies,
It made one gasp and stretch one’s eyes…
