Well Women Arts Workshops
Square Chapel, Calderdale Women's Centre and West Central Halifax's Healthy Living Partnership teamed up to offer taster sessions in different art forms for women.
The purpose of the project was to give women an opportunity to try out different arts activities in a friendly, sociable setting with artists who could help them develop their ideas. The ladies took part in visual arts sessions using a theme of 'objects and memories' to get ideas and words flowing, followed by creative writing sessions and ending with drama. Samples of this work will be on display in shop windows on Rawson Street in October and November, along with other examples of community arts work.
These taster sessions were being supported by the West Central Halifax Healthy Living Partnership, who recognise the positive role arts can play in empowering people and aiding well being.
