Square Chapel's Garden

We need lots of help making our grounds lovely and pretty in time for the 'Halifax In Bloom' judging to be held on Friday 11th April and Monday 7th July.

Help Halifax Town Centre Management and Square Chapel improve the local environment for the benefit of everyone who visits Halifax and maybe we can even help Halifax win an award and go through to the national 'In Bloom' competition.

Our gardening team are all volunteers, coordinated by our Centre Manager, Mat Firth, who is also growing seedlings and giving his personal time to the project as a volunteer. The project has really taken off as a result of the hard work done by just one man (who wants to remain nameless). Thanks to a kind donation by another of our volunteers (who also wishes to remain nameless, modest lot!) we have a small budget which will enable us to put on a good show of flowers for the 'In Bloom' competition. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated!

How you can help us:

Work has been ongoing on our garden and grounds since 1994 and a big thank you needs to go out to the volunteers who have worked really hard maintaining and improving the grounds over the years. There is still much work to be done in the garden before and after the judging dates for the 'In Bloom'. We need plants that will help make the garden look good all year round and fill the empty beds left after the recent building works on the front courtyard, along with sections of our grounds which could do with a thorough weeding. Even cuttings or seedlings which we can nurture will make a big difference.

You can help us whenever it suits you! As little or as much as you like.

Regular gardening days are the first Saturday in every month, between 11am and 3pm, weather permitting. Please come along and find out more. If you prefer we can show you what needs doing or if you're an experienced gardener you can come whenever is convenient to you.

Contact us to find out more or discuss how you can help us become more beautiful!

If you are interested please contact Mat Firth on 01422 353073 or email.

Please get in touch before bringing in any donations so we can arrange a mutually convenient time.

Many thanks.

Mat Firth, Centre Manager
